DEEPAM, a school for special children is founded on the philosophy that an individual should be given the opportunity to utilize their potential in order to live with dignity and respect.

Types of activities to the children

In Deepam, each child is thoroughly tested and evaluated assess their level of neurological and physical development. These methods of testing & observational assist in designing a special education and Vocational program to each child.

Vocational training

Vocational training and job training to the intellectually disabled is placed as the top priority at Deepam. At 16 years of age the vocational skills of each child are determined according to the student's interest, ability and skills level.

Extra curricular activities

Our School has been an active contestant of many cultural programmes conducted by Rotract Club, Lions Club, Leo Club, Ladies Club Of Annanagar, etc. & the students had received many laurels to their credits. These are encouraged so that students can gain social interaction with many common people. Picnics were also arranged regularly for their delight.

Requirement to run the organization

Though we are a nonprofit organization, we tend to give all the facilities that were needed by these children. About 60% of our students are from below poverty line families. There are many students who cannot afford to pay school fees. We need to have better facilities for the students. We also like to expand our activities such as organizing eye check up, medical check up camps and so on to all students. We need to have our own land and building. Also we were in urgent need for therapy equipments & our own school van. For this noble venture, we are raising donations. Any amount of contribution is welcome. Your Cheque/Draft should be in favour of "Jayaguru Seva Trust" to the contact address. Donations are exempted from income tax under section 80(G) of IT Act, 1961.
